In 1997, Frazzitta Enterprises, one of leading family-owned property investment companies in South Africa, bought and later transformed a neglected; three-storey building in Long Street into the stylish and luxurious boutique hotel it is today. The construction process was intense, with the entire building being demolished, leaving only four internal walls. The foundation was then substantially strengthened, and a floor a month was built until the impressive new seven-storey structure was completed.
The Italian flair of its owners, the Frazzitta family, is apparent in every feature of Urban Chic.
